The corn silage harvester mainly solves the problems of harvesting corn stalks in hilly areas. Equipped with a 110.3 kW (150 HP) engine, this machine has a 1550 mm cutting width and 1–3 km/h working speed, which can harvest about 0.3–0.5 hectares per hour.

Besides corn stalks, our silage harvester can also solve most other forage grasses, legume straw, and cereal straw. The chopped grass length is adjustable from 10 to 40 mm, good for the different needs of livestock farms.

What are the features of the Taizy corn silage harvester?

  • The sturdy chassis design provides better stability and a strong carrying capacity. In order to be suitable for wetlands, hills, soft ground, and other conditions, we have also designed a crawler model.
  • The header height can be adjusted to suit harvesting maize silage, naiper grass (≤ 2.5–3 m), and other high-nutritional-value forage crops, depending on crop height and field conditions.
  • The initial length of the grass chop is a standard 15 mm and can be adjusted within a range of 10-40 mm(depending on the number of blades and cutting speed) to ensure good silage quality and facilitate digestion for ruminants.
  • The corn stalk harvester uses a hydraulic unloading system, which makes unloading quick and easy. It is also equipped with a 3.5 cubic meter storage tank, which can load about 1 ton per batch, making it suitable for harvesting large batches of grass.
  • Taizy’s corn silage harvesters are available in 100HP, 150HP, and 160HP engine configurations to meet customers’ varying production scales and output requirements.

Detailed structure of the corn stalk harvester

The machine consists of four systems: the power & mobility system, the feeding & cutting system, the collection & discharge system, and the control & safety system.

1. Power & mobility system

The diesel engine provides the primary driving force for harvesting and chopping, with power options of 100, 150, and 160 hp. Tracks or large rubber wheels ensure stable operation on muddy or uneven, hilly terrain.

In a tracked forage harvester, the drive wheels transmit engine power to drive the tracks. The tensioners adjust the track tension to ensure smooth operation, and the support wheels help bear the weight of the machine and maintain balance.

2. Feeding & cutting system

This collecting device of corn silage harvester, also known as the corn straw collecting fork, primarily guides the corn straw to the header. The header lift cylinder adjusts the header height based on crop conditions, adapting to varying harvesting requirements.

The cutting blades can be adjusted by the number, which is mainly used to cut the crop straw during operation. Then, the harvesting drum pulls the straw into the header for further processing. Finally, the chopping and cutting system will shred the stalks into small pieces for silage or return them to the field.

3. Collection & discharge system

This part mainly includes the storage bin (collecting chopped corn stalks) and the discharge chute (transferring the chopped materials to the trailer or spreading them on the field).

As well as the storage bin cylinder (controls lifting/unloading of the storage bin) and the discharge chute cylinder (adjusts chute direction/angle for precise discharge).

4. Control & safety system

The operator’s station is where the driver controls harvesting, driving, and unloading operations, with a sunshade that protects the operator from the sun and rain.

Like traditional-driven agricultural machines, our corn silage harvesters are equipped with rearview mirrors, greatly enhancing visibility and safety during operation.

Two types of silage harvesters

1. The crawler corn silage harvester

Advantages

Our crawler maize silage harvester performs well in muddy, wet, or hilly terrain. Because its track has a larger contact area, it compacts the soil less.

What’s more, it offers a very stable ride and excellent traction, making it more suitable for larger farms than tire-type machines.

2. The wheeled maize silage harvester

Advantages

This type of corn silage harvester has a higher road speed (20-40 km/h) and lower fuel consumption on dry/flat land. It is easy and low-cost to maintain (tire replacement is easier). So it is suitable for farmers with scattered land, dry and flat fields, and who need to move frequently by road.

Application of the corn silage harvester

This corn silage harvester is primarily used to harvest and chop corn stalks and other crops into silage for livestock such as dairy cows, beef cattle, and sheep.

High-quality corn silage can increase milk and meat production efficiency. So it is widely used in large dairy farms, beef farms, and agricultural contracting companies. Contractors use silage harvesters to provide harvesting services for local farmers.

In addition, chopped corn stalks can be used as raw material for biogas production. The fermentation of corn silage generates renewable energy, providing an environmentally friendly energy supply.

In some other regions, silage harvesters chop stalks for direct return to the field, improving soil organic matter, fertility, and reducing burning pollution.

Customer’s feedback on this silage forage harvester

Malaysian farm imported Taizy silage machine

A medium-sized dairy farm in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with approximately 300 cows, faced a challenge: the high cost of purchasing imported silage and the inefficiency of manually cutting corn stalks.

To reduce costs and improve feed quality, the farm decided to install a Taizy corn silage harvester from us. With this new machine, they can more efficiently harvest local corn, chop it into fine silage, and store it in silos for long-term use.

This not only ensures a stable feed supply for the cows, but also reduces dependence on expensive imported feed. The farm owner stated that the Taizy silage harvester is a valuable tool for Malaysian small and medium-sized farms striving for modernization, effectively saving costs and improving feed quality.

Establish cooperation with the Indian feed processing plants

A feed mill in Punjab, India, contacted Taizy seeking to improve its supply chain. The company produces packaged corn silage bales and distributes them to thousands of dairy farmers in the region. After detailed discussions, Taizy provided a silage harvester solution customized for Indian corn varieties and field conditions.

The new machine has tripled the mill’s silage harvesting and processing speed, ensuring a stable supply of highly nutritious feed for local farmers. This partnership has also helped the mill expand its business, exporting silage bales to neighboring states and even Bangladesh.
